Hello, I`m running windows xp sp2 when I try to run upgrade within the system the setup stops responding after inserting the code when I boot from the CD upgrade is not available

Vista upgrade
I tried to install Vista over my XP, however, the "Upgrade" selection is grayed out. I removed Office 2007 Beta2 and still had the issue. I don't want to install another OS, but rather upgrade the XP that I have. I used the advisor and had no issues with my machine's compatibility.
The setup screen that has the upgrade option on it should display the reason that upgrade is not available. ---------- Mark Dietz PROnetworks <http://www.pro-networks.org> http://imnuts.gotdns.org/blog/

If you are booting the DVD, then upgrade is not available. You must run the Setup program from within XP
You do know that if you upgrade to Vista over XP and you deside you want XP back, the only way to get XP back is to format your Hdd. If you did not backup your files you will loose everything. "markb" wrote in message

If the drive that Xp is installed on is formated as Fat32 the upgrade option is greyed out. Use a program like Partition Magic to convert it to NTFS and the upgrade option will be there.
